{"id":261,"date":"2009-09-16T07:59:53","date_gmt":"2009-09-16T07:59:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theduanewells.com\/?p=261"},"modified":"2018-07-29T01:51:39","modified_gmt":"2018-07-29T01:51:39","slug":"sytycd-new-judge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theduanewells.com\/staging3\/sytycd-new-judge\/","title":{"rendered":"SYTYCD: New Judge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fox\u2019s\u00a0<em>So You Think You Can Dance<\/em>\u00a0is getting a new judge, but it\u2019s probably not who you thought it might be.<\/p>\n<p>Despite rampant speculation that former<em>\u00a0American Idol<\/em>\u00a0sweetheart Paula Abdul might be dancing her way onto the judges panel of <em>SYTYCD<\/em>, Fox has announced that film director and choreographer Adam Shankman will be joining the hit reality show as its new judge beginning October 27.<\/p>\n<p>Shankman, who has been a guest judge on\u00a0<em>SYTYCD<\/em>\u00a0for the last three seasons of the program, expressed excitement about his new gig in a statement released by Fox.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>So You Think You Can Dance<\/em>\u00a0is one of the most important things to happen in the last decade for the art form,\u201d said Shankman. \u201cChoreography is how I found my way into this business, and I\u2019m proud to be a part of the show. As a filmmaker, it\u2019s an honor to be able to recognize choreographers and dancers, and to be able to bring all of this amazing work into America\u2019s homes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Show producer Nigel Lythgoe, who frequently commented about Paula Abdul joining the program in recent weeks, is likewise excited about Shankman\u2019s addition to television\u2019s popular weekly dance-off competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am extremely happy that Adam has agreed to be a resident judge,\u201d said Lythgoe in a statement. \u201cWe love bantering and bickering, and yet he still finds a way of capturing the sensitivity of every story told onstage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shankman, who has choreographed music videos for Whitney Houston and the B-52&#8217;s, is best known more recently for helming the hit films\u00a0<em>17 Again<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Hairspray<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #2b2b2b; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">Originally published at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.advocate.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #b40b51; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; text-decoration: none;\">Advocate.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #2b2b2b; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">.
